Pleating textures

After the experimenting with the pin tucking I began to think of other techniques I could incorporate to my design collection to help break up the collection and I thought that the smoking pleater would be a good contribution. This is because of the rippled effect you get after and with the colour of thread showing throughout, it creates a simple design, that works alongside print and patterns, similar to the pin tucks.

Above are photos of the beginning and end of the pleats and I am more than pleased, the colours grey and orange work well together, the grey background allows the orange to appear more vibrant and stand up from the grey also allowing the grey not too appear dark for an interiors collection. Due to this colour combination this is one of the first pieces  I can see carrying out to my design collection and has given me the confidence I needed to continue to bring colour into my designs as this seems to be a struggle I am having with my pattern designs.
