My current understanding of material culture

Material culture consists of design, architecture, dress etc. These are the things that help define your culture. Design arises from culture, values, politics, religion and beliefs etc. Theses cultural aspects contribute to design, creating symbolic patterns that are iconic to your culture/society, creating individuality and difference to other cultures. Material culture is also a way of defining wealth, creating a hierarchy in comparison to other societies due to the materials you have access to, this depending on the wealth and technology within your country, some are more technological based where as some societies are slightly more unfortunate and behind with the latest products etc.

Unfortunately this becomes a way of life and adapts our material needs through the development of technology, developing and adapting material culture as we grow on, creating cultural differences through wealth and the access of materials.
